Silky Oak Chocolate Museum
If handcrafted chocolates aren’t quite enough to tempt you (though we think they’ll come close!), make time to explore one of Hawke’s Bay’s most unique and delicious attractions – the Silky Oak Chocolate Museum.
Believed to be one of the most comprehensive chocolate museum in the Asia-Pacific region, this immersive experience takes you on a journey through 3,000 years of chocolate history. From ancient Mayan rituals to quirky historical facts and the evolution of chocolate as we know it today, this is a story as rich and layered as the chocolate itself.
The museum features illustrated displays, life-sized scenes, and an incredible collection of chocolate artefacts – including a 2,500-year-old Mayan chocolate pot. Whether you're a chocolate connoisseur, a curious history buff, or a visitor exploring Hawke’s Bay, it’s a must-see destination for all ages.
Located within the Silky Oak Complex, the museum pairs perfectly with a visit to our café, chocolate shop, or pantry store. Pop in during our opening times or pre-book on our experiences page!
